Prism Rover in Prism Sim SIM

The Prism Rover concept model, and the simulated V10 corn field it is tested in. Every plant and weed in the 24-row survey block is generated from seed 7 and recorded in a ground-truth table, so a crop-analysis model can be scored against the real answer.

The rover

ExteriorClear 0.9-gallon latching tote on four 13 cm ag-tread wheels. Stereo camera at the front; rear mast with two row-facing cameras, the RTK GNSS antenna, Wi-Fi antenna, status light and e-stop.
Inside, lid offUpper deck: Jetson Orin Nano with heatsink and fan, and two dual motor drivers. Below: 4S battery, buck converter, GNSS receiver, IMU, fuse and terminal block. Gear motors drive the wheels through the side walls.

Each row gives position in metres, condition, variant, rotation, scale and height. About 57,500 more plants and a canopy stand-in fill the field to the horizon; they are scenery and are not scored.

How it was made

  • One script builds the field from a seed. The same seed gives the same field on the Jetson and on the server.
  • Plants are generated, not hand-modelled: two-ranked leaves with veins, midrib and rippled margins, a senesced first leaf, and a curled whorl.
  • The soil has real relief: clods, the planter's seed slots, and last year's stalks lying half-buried.
  • Rendered with path tracing on the Jetson Orin Nano's GPU: 1280 × 720, 512 samples, peak 61 °C and about 3.8 GB of memory.

Not realistic yet

  • A thin line shows where the distant canopy stand-in ends.
  • Stressed leaves look slightly bleached from above.
  • The tree line is soft and blobby.
  • Not built yet: per-plant outlines for training, other growth stages, and the apple orchard.
