The first public Linux builds of Prism Desktop
This version shipped on 4 August 2026. These notes were written up on 21 September 2026.
The first public Linux build of Prism Desktop, version 0.5.3, went out on 4 August 2026, as a Debian package and an AppImage with signed automatic updates.
A fast first month
Eight builds shipped in the first two days, 0.5.3 to 0.5.10, as the packaging, signing and update path were exercised for real. Five more followed by 13 August, and 0.5.19 on 26 August. Most of this work was unglamorous: making sure an update is only ever installed with your consent, that the signature is checked before anything runs, and that a release carries its legal notices.
Work that landed on the way to 0.5.19 included:
- thread replies that stay reachable and keep their scroll position;
- reminders that show what is due today;
- fixes to timing problems found while qualifying the built-in browser;
- a release process that refuses to publish if the Store's signing authority cannot be confirmed.
What came next
September's releases turned to agents: 0.5.30, 0.5.31, 0.5.32 and 0.5.33. Windows and macOS builds are in progress, and an Android companion is in testing. Early access is through the waitlist.
