Prism Desktop 0.5.53: more Linux computers, and your agents found

This version shipped on 29 September 2026. These notes were written up on 29 September 2026.

Prism Desktop 0.5.53 opens on more Linux computers and finds the AI tools you install.

What changed

  • More Linux computers. Prism now starts on Ubuntu 22.04 and newer, Debian 12 and newer, and Fedora. Earlier builds needed a very new system and would not open on Ubuntu 24.04 or Debian. We now check every build on each of these systems before it ships.
  • Agent programs you install are found. Many tools add themselves to your shell settings when you install them, so your terminal can run them but an app opened from the app menu could not see them. Prism now asks your shell the way a terminal does, so OpenClaw, OpenCode, Cursor and tools installed with npm are found and started.
  • Clearer setup messages. If Hermes Agent is installed without its connector, Prism says exactly that instead of "not installed". If your computer is missing a system library Prism needs, Prism now tells you which one instead of not opening.

Why it matters

Bringing the AI you already use only works if Prism can find it. There is more on that in running several AI coding agents. Early access to Prism Desktop is through the waitlist.
